Werdhi Budaya Art Centre
The Werdhi Budaya Art Centre also known as Bali Arts Centre is located on the eastern side of downtown Denpasar City, about 20 minutes away from the International Airport.
This park is a place to exhibit various kinds of Balinese arts such as music, dance, painting, sculpture and other arts. The Art Centre houses a museum of artifacts displayed in the context of the island's history and is a venue for concerts and other performances, being a home of the largest arts events in Bali. It also contains classic examples of local architecture and a lovely garden.

The center houses permanent exhibits of modern traditional and contemporary Balinese visual arts covering numerous disciplines including painting, wood carving, shadow puppetry, silverwork, weaving, dance, costumes and even ivory carving.
Taman Werdhi Budaya was established in 1970 with the purpose of giving more exposure to Balinese culture while at the same time acting as a teaching center and craft shop. All cultural classes held there are free of charge because the government hires the instructores themselves. This is done to preserve the balinese culture. It also has a restaurant, many food stands and warungs. Moreover, you will find an excellent outdoor performance facility where kecak dances are staged daily.

The annual Pesta Seni or Bali Art Festival is held on the grounds of Taman Werdhi Budaya annually in mid-June to July. Competitions for traditional music, dancing, art, and culture are held at that time.
Last but not least you can buy a lot of different and handmade souvenirs, such as the „Genta“ which is used by a priest during a ceremony in the Balinese culture.
Souvenirs displayed in the gallery
Opening times are daily from 7:00am-3:30pm. The best day to visit the art center is Sunday, because that's when the locals have their dance classes and music classes, which you can watch for a bit. The entry fee is starting from IDR 30.
