Sangeh Monkey Forest: A Monkey Tourism Site in Paradise

Sangeh Monkey Forest is located on Jalan Brahma, Sangeh Village, Sub-district of Abian Semal, Badung Regency-BALI. It takes only 45 minutes from the capital city of Denpasar to reach this beautiful monkey forest; or about 30 minutes from the royal family temple of Taman Ayun.

Sangeh Monkey Forest stands as a renowned destination for both natural and cultural tourism, offering visitors a captivating blend of nature, represented by the lush forest and its resident monkeys, and cultural richness showcased through a public temple. The forest, home to approximately 700 monkeys, provides an immersive experience as they naturally inhabit the rainforest, organizing themselves into three significant groups (Ranger, 23 April 2019). Visitors have the opportunity to engage with the vibrant ecosystem of Sangeh, where the harmonious coexistence of the forest and its monkey inhabitants creates a unique and memorable tourist experience.

This is to suggest that Sangeh Monkey Forest is a  nice place to visit as tourists do not only can see the monkeys but tourists can also enjoy the fresh atmosphere of rain forest while capturing some pictures of the monkyes and high  trees and even feed the monkeys.

The combination beetween nature and culture have impressed this particular tourist. Tourists will be welcomed by friendly monkeys around the forest which shall also be impressed with the ancient temple of Puncak Sari which was build during the Mengwi Kingdom. in other word, visiting Sangeh Monkey forest mean experienceing the nature and culture of Bali at the same time.

Sangeh has been designated as Tourism Village (Desa Wisata) - an integration of tourist attractions exist within the region of Sangeh Village such as monkey forest, Mumbul sacred bathing site, homestay and local culinary.

The designation of Sangah as a tourism village is expected to bring more economic benefit for local people of Sangeh Village to improve their prosperities.

 

Mumbul sacred bathing site have been widely known among Balinese people as this sacred site is commonly used for purification and healing purposes. Hundreds of Hindus visiting this bathing place veryday since morning until evening.
